This framed assemblage presents a speculative survey of objects believed to function as conduits for misfortune, redirection, and symbolic harm.
Recovered metal fragments are interpreted as items exchanged between individuals to attract, absorb, or divert adverse outcomes. Each object is assigned a carefully reasoned, if ultimately unverifiable, purpose, ranging from drawing ill fortune from multiple directions to signalling death, famine, or unavoidable consequence.
The collection reflects a persistent human tendency to externalise fear and uncertainty through material objects, attributing agency and intent to otherwise ordinary fragments. Disturbing or ambiguous forms are understood, within this framework, to increase effectiveness.
Presented in the visual language of museum interpretation, the piece invites the viewer to consider how authority, ritual significance, and perceived power emerge through naming, classification, and display.
